December 12-18, 2005

Hey everyone

Already another week over and we are fast approaching the end of the yearonce again!
How has everyone's pre-Chrissy plans been going? You Aussie folk must beenjoying a hot summer? What is everyone up to for New Year's?

This past week has been an absolute blast for me - even though I had a lotof study to do and had 5 assessments due for uni, I managed to fit in a lotof social activities. Usually at this time of the year, I am on summerholidays an overseas, but this year (well I am overseas), but I am still atuni!!

Last Monday I had a presentation to give in Finance, so most of my day wasfilled up finalising that. I got back early on Monday morning after stayingat a friends place..
On Tuesday I had only one class in the morning, so my friend Emerald took me to Shinjuku and bought a nice pair of jeans for my birthday. We had a nice lunch together, and made some general plans about what we will do for Christmas. As her dad will be here in Japan with her, I have decided to go to the "Aussie Bar" in Shinjuku and have a real Aussie Christmas lunch, fresh with turkey and pudding etc!! Should at least remind me of home!

Last Wedesday I abandoned my studies and went to play tennis with a Japanese friend. Actually, 3 of them - we had a fun doubles match and really just enjoyed being outside in the "warmish" Winter sun! Had another nice lunch, then met another Japanese friend (and his girlfriend) and went to karaoke together.
I am really trying to enjoy this festive season - going out as much as I canand taking all the opportunities I ca to catch up with friends and enjoytheir company. It's a time of the year when we should ALL be doing it!!

Thursday and Friday were once again spent at uni all day - Thursday was alittle different, because instead of my Islamic Studies class, we went on abit of an excursion to a local Muslim Mosque. The architecture wasTurkish-style and really was amazing! I hadnt ever been to a Mosque before, so it was a very new and exciting experience. I will definately go back, to take in the peace and serenity that it provides - I cannot sit in on aservice however, because I am not Muslim, and that is against the Islamiccode of religious law.

Saturday was a long and tiring day (full of action!) - slept in (muchneeded) o Saturday morning, then went for a long walk, with no idea of where I was going. Kept walking until I ran into a Mc Donald's, where I suddenly got a craving for a double cheeseburger!! So I stayed there for about 3 hours reading my Nelson Mandela autobiography and ding some Japanese study. On Saturday night I went out with some friends to see a Japanese play - avery small, and ntimate production, about a boy who lives in the country and tries very hard to pass his university entrance exams, but fails - it looks at the trappings of city life too. I really enjoyed it - I think livetheatre on a small scale is so powerul, yet very hard to pull off!
We then all went out to a Yakiniku restaurant before heading to famousRoppongi Hills to Club Vanilla for some dancing and drinking! The club was packed, probably about 5, 000 people - a 2 level club with R&B anddance/trance music. We got there at about midnight and danced right through until 5am!!! I again had a Mc Donald's double cheesburger (shameful I know!!) before catching the first train back home to Ogikubo!

Managed to get 4 hours sleep, before jumping on the bandwagon again andheading out. et my Japanese friend Takao (whom I met in Sydney when he went there on exchange for 3 years) and we went to see "King Kong" at the movies. Very good movie and Naomi Watts does a good job, even though it is not a usual role of hers! It's a very long movie though, standing at 3.5 hours!!Almost Titanic-length!
We then hit the shopping streets, because I wanted to buy Kazuya a christmas present. I asked him specifically not to buy me anything, because he had already been so thoughtful and spent a lot on our anniversary present and my 21st birthday. I ended up getting him a really nice, warm winter skivy and the latest Eminem album (which for some gods unknown reason he wanted!). I finished off the set with some English study books which will help him master his "Engrish" and make it "more better" !!!!

I am very tired now, considering I only got 4 hours sleep in the last 2days!
Got another busy week this week, in the countdown to Christmas and the New Year!!
Take care everyone and keep in touch!

Tim
