Hey everyone again
A fairly short email this week because for once there is not much to report!!!!
Last Monday I headed to the Imperial Palace and lined up with about 10,000 other crazy Japanese with flags to greet the Emperor and his family as they gave an official New Year's address. Amazing experience!! The Japanese are very nationalistic, and it was incredible to hear all the flags waving in the wind as they paid their respects to their Emperor.
The rest of the week I have spent doing homework (3 essays due in thenext 2 weeks), and tackling my website. Been updating it everyday as there is always plenty of news on Martina to add. Any of you guys who haven'tseen it yet, please check it out at:www.geocities.com/ttiimmyy2000/MartinaHingis.html
On Wednesday I played tennis with a Japanese friend - we played a bestof 3 set match - which we didn't finish cause we ran out of time. I struggledto find much rhythm in the match but led 7-6, 3-6, 5-3 before we stopped!! Almost won!! Then went and had lunch with my tennis partner before playing bowling (indoors) which he beat me at!!We made a bet before the game - the loser would have to pay for the two ofus -and that was me!!!!
Thursday was study study study......
Friday I went out to karaoke with some uni friends - good to get out anduse my voice -I really do miss driving my car to uni and singing away to the radio!!! We went out for dinner after and got engaged in a greatpolitical discussion that ended up lasting about 3 hours!! As you know, when I argue a point I firmly believe in, I argue it until my opponents give up due to lack of patience!!!!!
Yesterday I finally got a haircut after not having one for 4 months!! My hair was becoming raggy and really did look like a mop!! It's quiteshort now, and although I get colder having short hair in Winter I always try and wear a beanie! Then I had a friend come over to my house and we watched dvd's and atecup noodles!! Fun Saturday avo relaxing and pigging out. We then headed to Tokyo Dome - a massive complex in northern Tokyo that boasts a large arena (incidentally where the Backstreet Boys were performing last night), as well as restaurants and an amusement park. Emerald and I went on this amazing rollercoaster, whose seats twisted around in all directions!! As usual, I thought I would die!
And today I have attempted to finish off my essay...with some success.
Heading out tonight with some friends - hiring a car and driving toMount Fuji to see the sunrise tomorrow morning. It is a public holiday here in Japan tomorrow so will take advantage of that.Really looking forward to seeing the sn rise over the mountain - we willno doubt say up all night tonight chatting....
I head back to uni on Tuesday and then mum and Karen come to Japan tovisit next week!! Very excited!
