January 29-February 5, 2006
Hey everyone
Sending the weekly email late this week cause I have had a crazy weekend out and about. Hope everyone is okay and doing well. Last Friday was my last day at uni for the next 10 weeks - now on Spring Break. Really good to be off again.
Had a busy last week at uni with a special lecture by the Japanese Managerof Fuji Xerox and a nice class dinner for my Finance Class at a very nicerestaurant. Also had a big buffet dinner where I volunteered last Fridaynight - escorted delegates and ambassadors into the auditorium and enjoyed a beautiful cocktail and buffet party. Managed to finish all my essays and assignements in time. Happy about that.
Last week the Women's Tennis Tour stopped off in Tokyo, so I managed to go and see my fav player Martina Hingis last Wednesday, and then her semi-final match last Saturday and her final loss to Dementieva yesterday. Was a fantastic tournament, and happy to see Martina back playing so well.
Last night went to Odaiba with some friends - Emerald who I am at uni withhad 2 Aussie friends visiting this week, so we all went out for a nicedinner and drink.
Today I played tennis with my Japanese friend then went and saw "FlightPlan" at the movies - I love Jodie Foster and the movie was especiallythrilling....has anyone seen it? Had a few drinks out and then went to anall-you-can-eat Japanese buffet restaurant - nice to pig out for a change!!
So the rest of this week offers more new experiences. I am staying home tostudy and catch up on my novel I am in the process of writing. It is snowinghere tonight in Tokyo, so tomorrow will be very cold and slushy outside -take advantage of the warmer indoors! On Thursday I am participating in the Waseda Sports Festival - probablygonna play Badminton. It's the closest sport to tennis that is offered atthe festival - see how I go!From Friday I will be going to Kyushu, the very south of Japan - toparticipate in a volunteer project for 8 days. Picking up where I left offafter my Costa Rica trip, I will be helping all the local farmers with theirjobs and helping the local kids with their English studies as well asplaying sports with them. Should be a great experience yet again - there areJapanese volunteers participating, as well as some Italians, Koreans andAmericans.Really looking foreward to the experience.
I get back on the 20th February, so will update everyone again then with allmy news.
Kazuya is coming to Tokyo on the 20th Feb and we will stay here in my room together until March 1st, when we will move into a new apartment about 15 minutes North of where I am now. We will live together until July, when I am planning to go back to Australia.
I have Spring Break until the 12th April, so am planning to stay here inTokyo with Kazuya for the first 3 weeks of March, and the go down Southagain to see my host family for a few days then an Aussie mate down inKouchi, a small town located on the beach. Sring is on its way, and eventhough it is snowing tonight, the days are gradually becoming warmer.
Take care everyone and keep in touch
